Introduction

When Dr.Eugene Kim completed his extensive training as an Orthodontist, he had many goals and aspirations. But one of his greatest desires was to join a positive, family-like practice that values patient-oriented services: He found that at TLC for Smiles.

Dr. Eugene’s best day at work is spending one-on-one time with his patients, offering support, training in personal dental hygiene, and simply enjoying the art of conversation to strengthen the bond of trust between him and his patients.

He loves serving patients of all ages, and his pleasant and personable demeanor makes everyone feel welcome, secure, and safe.

Summary of Academic Career

Dr. Eugene began his educational journey by leaving his home in Southern California and attending the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, CA, in their accelerated 3+3 program earning his DDS and graduating with honors.

He went on to his Orthodontic Internship at Roseman University in Nevada in their Advanced Education in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Residency Program. His residency training gave him a sound fundamental base but also challenged him to be an adventurous clinician who can think out of the box.

After completing his residency, he finished his formal education at Roseman, earning an Orthodontic Certificate and an MBA.

Experience

As a practicing clinician, Dr. Kim has sharpened his skills in straight-wire appliances, clear aligner therapy (Invisalign and /Clear Correct), orthognathic surgery, functional appliances, soft tissue laser applications, and other procedures.

His MBA has augmented his orthodontic training and clinical work, helping to shape him to become a more well-rounded professional and adding to his leadership skills.

In the past, Dr. Eugene worked weekends at a pediatric office which gave him an awareness of the challenges and rewards of leading a solid team. He brings to TLC Smiles the leadership experience and joy he received in treating children and adolescents.

Community Contributions

Dr. Eugene has a passion for helping and serving others and the community he works with. And the community benefits from his many skills, experience, and his compassion for others. When he was in dental school, he participated in Give Kids a Smile which provides underserved children with free oral health, including preventive and restorative treatment. Dr. Eugene says it was an enlightening and enjoyable experience.

He truly feels that his career is a gift that he has been so fortunate to receive, and he doesn’t take for granted the effect that it has on improving the lives of the people in the community he serves.

Outside Interests

Dr. Eugene loves trying new restaurant cuisines and sampling different kinds of foods. His counterbalance to his passion for new foods is working out, hiking, and simply being active outdoors.

He hopes to do more traveling in the future to encounter different foreign foods firsthand and experience new cultures. And because Dr. Eugene is a people person, he always has room in his calendar for spending time with family and friends.
